Dig Deeper
- The project data will be stored in the actual database instead of SQLite and XML. This can be an integrated database server that comes with the software or users can use their own database (SQL Server, MySQL, Postgre).
- Since it is a standard database, the data can be exported as an SQL file and stored in a version control system like SVN or Git.
- User interface improvement: project groups. You can create groups in a project and move objects such as tables and views into them. Each group can also have its own relationship diagram. These groups will appear on all screens of the software.
- Multi-user environment. A user starts changing the board settings, this board automatically becomes locked, all other users will see it in read-only mode. Once the user saves the project, the new settings can be immediately seen by other users. There will also be a manual lock feature that will allow changes to be made to common settings such as security.
- Developers can be located anywhere in the world. It will not be necessary to provide direct access to the database for remote users. PHPRunner/ASPRunner.NET will connect to the application server which will handle all communications with the database.
- Revisions. You can view all revisions, open an older version of the project in read-only mode, and return to that revision if necessary. Open two copies of the same project in two different instances of PHPRunner or ASPRunner.NET, one is current and the other is an older revision, then copy something from one project to another.
- Adding comments to saves/revisions (manually and automatically). The comments will be searchable and will help you quickly locate the review you are looking for.
This will be a game changer! Additionally, this will not break project compatibility and all v10.x projects will open and build without any issues. Additionally, switching to an HTML-based user interface will make PHPRunner and ASPRunner.NET assistant software look much better. It opens up possibilities such as light and dark themes within the software itself.
